Build Your Own Bike (1 of 8)

Gain a comprehensive overview of bicycle mechanics in this 8 week Build Your Own Bike course. Completely disassemble your bike down to the bare frame and then programatically re-assemble it learning every part and system along the way. This class will cover it all, including headsets, bottom brackets, hubs, wheel truing, brakes, shifters and derailleurs as well as finishing work and trouble shooting.

Participants are to supply their own project bike, replacement parts and/or accessories. West Town Bikes will provide basic supplies such as cables, housing, bearings, grease and other shop supplies. Contact the instructor for possible sale of project bikes and advice on best type bike for BYOB class. WTB will offer storage space for project bike, parts and supplies for BYOB participants only. Participants must take project bike and all other belongings from WTB at the end of the course.

Participants must contact instructor Sarah Kaplan to arrange registration for this class. This class is limited to eight participants. Enrollment is secured with payment to the instructor. Reccomended donation for participation in this class is $150. Payment is negotiable so contact the instructor for a reccommended price schedule for this class.
