This 6-week series will cover everything you need to know to keep your bike tuned up. You will learn to overhaul bottom brackets, headsets and hubs, true wheels, adjust brakes, replace brake pads and cables, and adjust shifters and derailleurs. Class 1 will give you an basic overview to bike mechanics including the names of the parts of a bike, names of tools, fix-a-flat and basic cable adjustments.

Fall is here and Winter is just around the corner, but that's no reason to put your bike up for the season! Learn the basics of how to keep your bike running smoothly all Winter long! This workshop will cover basics such as fix-a-flat, basic cable adjustments and more. You'll also learn necessary maintenance for winter riding as well as ways to best equip you and your bike for the cold, dark and snow. This is a great way to learn about your bike and become familiar with West Town Bikes. Bring a bike to work on. No prior knowledge needed!

Build your own wheels!

Participants learn how to lace spokes into a wheel, apply tension to spokes, and make a wheel round and true. Wheel building theory will also be discussed in class. We will be using the Gerd Schraner method of wheel building. 3 cross spoked wheels in either 32 or 36 hole rims and hubs will be built. Using this method makes a strong, reliable and servicable set of wheels.

Week 1 we will lace both front and rear wheels. Week two we will tension, round and true both wheels.
